Livelihoods & Social Inclusion

Action for Rural Advancement (ARA) is committed to promoting social inclusion, protecting the rights of marginalized communities, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through partnerships with national and international organizations, ARA supports women, youth, farmers, and persons with disabilities by improving access to social protection, climate-resilient livelihoods, technical skills development, and safe water services. To date, the organization has empowered 4,977 women and trained over 1,700 youth, contributing to a more inclusive, resilient, and equitable society.

1. Social Protection & Inclusion
Our key objective is to ensure that the most marginalized and excluded populations are actively included in mainstream development processes.
Social Safety Net Access: We provide technical support to ensure that eligible beneficiaries can access government social protection programs such as widow allowances and old-age allowances in a fair and transparent way.
Women & Persons with Disabilities Inclusion: We are working directly with 4,977 women, supporting their rights, protection, and leadership development. In addition, special inclusion measures are in place for persons with disabilities within our project activities.
Rights Awareness: We raise awareness among marginalized communities about their legal and social rights, contributing to a more inclusive and just society.
2. Sustainable Livelihoods

Instead of relief-based support, we focus on creating long-term and sustainable income opportunities for communities.
Climate-Resilient Agriculture: We promote improved agricultural technologies and salt-tolerant seeds to help farmers adapt to challenging coastal conditions.
Alternative Income Sources: Training on poultry rearing, livestock farming, and vocational skills is helping women and youth become economically self-reliant.
Social Business Model: With the support of the Bangladesh NGO Foundation (BNF), we facilitate tube well installation and instalment-based agricultural equipment distribution, creating income-generating opportunities for marginalized households.
Technical Skills Development (HDF): With support from the Human Development Foundation, more than 1,700 youth have been trained and transformed into skilled human resources.
