2. History
Action for Rural Advancement (ARA) was established in 1996 in Satkhira, a climate-vulnerable coastal district of Bangladesh. It began as a community initiative by a group of young social entrepreneurs aiming to address poverty, environmental challenges, and social injustice.
Over the years, ARA expanded its activities from local awareness programs to large-scale development interventions. It has worked in sectors such as safe water, education, climate change adaptation, and human rights.
Today, ARA operates in multiple districts across Bangladesh, partnering with national and international organizations to deliver impactful development programs.
3. Legal Status
ARA is a legally registered and compliant non-profit organization in Bangladesh.
Registrations:
- NGO Affairs Bureau: 3131/2018
- Department of Social Welfare: Sat-271/1999
- Department of Youth Development: Jabu-041/2017
These registrations ensure that ARA operates under national laws and maintains transparency, accountability, and good governance standards.
