Satkhira Correspondent: International Women’s Day 2026 was celebrated in Satkhira with a vibrant discussion meeting and an award-giving ceremony under the RENEW (Response, Engagement, and Networking for Excluded Women) project. The event was successfully implemented by the local development organization ARA, with support from the European Union, Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), and Christian Aid.
During the discussion, the guests and speakers emphasized the importance of bringing marginalized and excluded women into the mainstream of development. They highlighted that raising community awareness is vital to protecting women’s rights, ensuring their safety, and preventing domestic and social violence.
In the second half of the program, special honorary awards were presented to a group of grassroots women who overcame numerous social challenges to become self-reliant and champion women’s rights in their respective communities. The awardees expressed their gratitude to the organizers and pledged to work even harder for the protection and empowerment of women in the future.
Senior officials from the implementing organization, local dignitaries, women leaders, and members of the Ward Women’s Protection Forum attended the event.
